Retford Amateur Operatic Society are delighted to present their annual pantomime at Retford Little Theatre, which this year is ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ by Stephen Duckham. This is the traditional tale with a pantomime twist, so expect a lot of laughs, some booing and hissing and some great tunes and dancing to move the plot along. Here is a brief synopsis of the story:
It is Princess Snow White’s 18th birthday and all at the castle, including her nurse Dame Doitall and her friend Handy Andy, are celebrating with a party. All that is except the evil Queen Malevolent who is in a rage because the Spirit of her magic mirror has pronounced Snow White the ‘fairest in the land’.
As we all know Snow White flees into the forest to escape death and finds a cottage belonging to seven dwarfs who, on hearing of the terrible fate Queen Malevolent wished on Snow White, invite her to stay with them. Back at the castle Dame Doitall and Handy Andy discover the truth and together with Prince Rupert set off to find Snow White. Queen Malevolent has also found out that Snow White is still alive and plots an even more sinister way to dispose of her.
Go along and find out if and how Snow White’s friends defeat the evil queen. Performances from Wednesday 11th December to Sunday 15th December at 7.30pm with matinees on Saturday and Sunday at 2.15pm. Book online at www.raos.org.uk or call 07845 11698.
