VE80 Rampton village remembers

by | 3 June 2025 | Community Event, Retford

With headscarves, flags, jelly and dripping, the villagers of Rampton marked VE80 in style. The afternoon began with an ex-RAF sergeant remembering the sacrifice of those service men and women who did not return from the war in Europe. Jess Brett led the singing of familiar war time songs, followed by food donated by villagers and sandwiches funded by Greencore, and supported by the Parish Council and a donation via Councillor Si Richardson. A collection was taken and £285 will be forwarded to the Retford branch of the Royal British Legion.

The newly formed Rampton Entertainment Group are actively building on the community spirit and will be organising a variety of events over the summer.

All Saints Church, Rampton opened its doors on 8th May, with information and displays about local fallen men and as with the rest of the UK, the church bells rang to remember and quietly pray for peace around the World.
