Walking netball offers fitness, friendship and fun

An England Walking Netball group in Gainsborough is encouraging more people to discover the benefits of staying active while making new friends.
Held every Wednesday from 1.00pm to 2.00pm at West Lindsey Leisure Centre, the sessions are open to anyone looking for gentle exercise in a friendly, supportive environment.

Although particularly popular with women aged 50 and over, the group welcomes adults of all ages and abilities, including those with mobility issues.

In walking netball there is no running, jumping or physical contact, and players are given an extra step and extra second with the ball. The emphasis is firmly on enjoyment rather than competition.

For anyone who enjoys a more competitive challenge, there are also opportunities to take part in friendly tournaments throughout the year.
However, members say the social side of the group is just as important as the game itself. After every session, players stay for tea, coffee and biscuits, and the group regularly organises lunches, walks and day trips.
New members are always welcome, with the first session free and subsequent sessions costing just £3.00. Anyone is welcome to watch a session or have a go.
