Gainsborough Men’s Shed has now passed the 100-member milestone—a fantastic reflection of the warmth, creativity, and camaraderie at the heart of the Shed. Alongside their growing membership, three exciting projects are underway and open to new members:
The Allotment Project
Their allotment is slowly taking shape, with plenty still to do. No experience or tools are needed—just your boots and enthusiasm! It’s a great way to get outdoors, meet others, and make your mark.
Music Project – Revitalize and Harmonize
This joyful initiative invites local musicians to join The Shedders jam sessions, learn to play guitar (they can loan instruments), or bring in guitars for repair. If they’re beyond saving, the Shed’s crafty members are upcycling them into unique art pieces.
Cycle Support Project
A funded project to support adult cyclists (18+) through informal workshops. Shed members help participants get bikes winter-ready—covering basic maintenance, safety, and repair over replacement.
Shed Shindigs – Monthly Socials with Heart
The latest Shindig featured live music from The Shedders and a presentation by Rick Craig on the Community Rail Initiative. These monthly events bring people together, reduce isolation, and build stronger community connections.
A Shed Shindig includes:
- Performances by The Shedders (most months!)
- A welcome table with Shed info
- Community tables for local groups
- Guest speakers, quizzes, and visits from councillors and activity leaders
The next Shed Shindig will be on Wednesday 5th November, 1.00pm to 3.00pm, at Marshalls Sports and Community Hall, Middlefield Lane, DN21 1UU – featuring a lively quiz hosted by ‘Tunes and Trivia’.
If you’re a local group who’d like to go along to a Shed Shindig or are interested in being a guest speaker at a future event, please get in touch. There’s always something to get involved in. Feel free to drop in, call 07300 869422, email gainsborough.mensshed@gmail.com or visit their website, http://www.gainsboroughmensshed.co.uk — everyone’s welcome at Gainsborough Men’s Shed!
