Gainsborough Choral Society’s new season is just round the corner, and they have a fantastic programme of concerts for the 2026-27 season. This season will conclude on 20th March 2027 with a performance of the ever-popular Messiah by Handel. Before then there is a concert on Saturday 14th November with a selection of works by British composers including Psalm 23 (the theme from the Vicar of Dibley) and Eternal Light by Howard Goodall, and Five Mystical Songs by Vaughan Williams. Carols for All takes place on 12th December, and as last year, this will start at 4.00pm to make it more attractive to families with young children.
Gainsborough Choral Society, founded in 1860, is a leading choral society attracting members from Gainsborough and surrounding areas of Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire, singing a range of sacred and secular music. Currently around 65 strong, the Society performs three concerts each year, often with a full orchestra, and with visiting soloists as appropriate.
Vacancies exist in all parts, and the Society would welcome new singers. No audition is required – you just need to be enthusiastic about singing!
Rehearsals re-commence on Thursday 3rd September at 7.30pm in the Function Room at Marshall’s Sports Ground, Middlefield Lane, Gainsborough DN21 1UU.
