Edwinstowe Cricket Club (ECC) has been active during the winter months planning and preparing for the coming season. There will be improvements to the ground and the surrounding area, adding new seating and making changes and improvements inside the pavilion.

The bar area will be upgraded, providing increased area and easier access. A new gas boiler has already been fitted, and additional storage facilities are to be created. On the Pavilion wall, opposite the Craft Centre, a new defibrillator, bought and provided by the Cricket Club, has been installed, which will service Forest Corner and surrounding area. If any organisation or individual would like to ease the financial burden on the Club by making a donation, it would be appreciated.

For 2022, on Saturdays the ground will be used by Thoresby 3rd team, playing in Bassetlaw Division 5, and also by Madni CC – a very useful side based in Nottingham, playing in the South Notts League, but who love to play at Forest Corner. As last season, the Club will have a Senior team playing in the Newark Midweek league but expanding to include friendly fixtures (in various formats) on Sundays throughout the season. Any new players will be warmly welcomed. Sunday fixtures will be completed by Wellow Exiles who again will play their home fixtures on the ground. Results and information pertaining to all fixtures will be available on the ECC website and through social media.

The Junior teams have already started playing; soft ball cricketers (under-11s and under-13s) are competing in competitions organised by Nottinghamshire CCC and hosted by Worksop College, in their sports hall.

The summer programme will be similar to last year: the hard ball cricketers will begin preparations in early April ready for their fixtures commencing in early May, while the younger ones will have their All Stars and Dynamo programmes beginning on the weekend of Friday 13th May (All Stars for five to eight year olds) and Sunday 15th May (Dynamos for eight to 11 year olds).

Any family who has youngsters interested in joining these programmes can contact the Club directly on 07887 952551 or by using the ECB direct link to the age group as appropriate.

There are several events planned for the coming season including band nights, village 6-side and a tug of war competition. One date to make note of is Thursday 2nd June (Bank Holiday) when the Club will be hosting a Family Fun Day at the Forest Corner. Full details will be circulated via the usual outlets; in the meantime, put it on the calendar!

You are always welcome at Edwinstowe Cricket Club; there will be a lot happening this summer. When you have time why not wander down to spend time watching and enjoying the Club and what it has to offer?
