Retford Civic Society Autumn Litter Pick

by | 15 January 2018 | Heritage, Notice, Retford

On a bright autumn Sunday morning, 34 members of Retford Civic Society got together to tidy up the litter in the town centre. Wearing high-vis jackets and with bags and pickers in hand, groups set off from the Bay Tree car park in high spirits.

More than 50 bags of litter were piled up at the assembly point two hours later, as the satisfied members had coffee together. Quite a few plastic bottles as well as drinks cans and glass bottles had been found. However, everyone was pleased to note that there was less litter in Retford than at previous litter picks — and hardly any plastic bags!

It was a very successful event, with Retford waking up to a clean town on Monday morning, when visitors from Pfungstadt, Retford’s twin town in Germany, just happened to be walking around the centre, and commented on the tidiness of our town.
