North Notts Association of National Trust Members

The January talk by Janice Bradley MBE to the North Notts Association of National Trust Members was extremely interesting and it was a shame that the weather prevented some members from attending to enjoy the talk.

Janice is Head of Nature Recovery (North) for the Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust and is responsible for the reintroduction of beavers at the Idle Valley Nature Reserve. She explained how and why the Trust brought them back and gave details of their progress and how they benefit the Reserve. She also covered the endless march of scrub and the missing herbivores in wetland.

February’s talk was entitled ‘A History of Derwent Dams’, and at the March talk, Dr Ann Featherstone will be entertaining with a brief history of pantomime.

The group’s programme of summer visits will commence on 23rd May. It is provisionally going to be a visit to Doddington Hall and Gardens and Lincolnshire Road Transport Museum.

Talks take place at the Crossing on Newcastle Avenue, Worksop; doors open at 7.00pm, with talks starting at 7.30pm.

Membership is £30.00 single or £55.00 joint, and covers seven talks from October to April. The summer outings are all paid for separately as and when they take place. National Trust members are welcome as visitors and pay £6.00 per talk.

Forthcoming talks

  • 15th March: A Brief History of Pantomime – Dr Ann Featherstone
  • 19th April: The Mary Rose; One Moment in Time – Kathy Powis
