Your Pet Food Bank CIC is a small, non-profit organisation that helps keeps pets at home when people are struggling and in financial difficulty.
They currently support homeless charities, human food banks and community centres as well as providing food for vulnerable individuals who are referred through social workers or other professionals. Since April 2021, they have grown and now have 14 volunteers and provide support to 20 food banks, community centres and other food programmes, relying purely on donations for this vital service.
The organisation started in Sheffield but now covers Rotherham, Doncaster, Barnsley, Chesterfield, Gainsborough, Wakefield, Leeds and Pontefract. Requests are coming in to set up further afield to provide more assistance to those in need.
Many people are struggling with low income / job losses at the moment, and it is hard to think people have to make a decision to rehome their pets if they are already having a difficult time. The aim of the food bank is to keep loved pets at home, thus supporting their humans and also helping support rescues.
The organisation cannot do this without support, and they are always looking for more help / advertisement as the pet food they receive does not last long due to so many people being in need.
Visit www.linktr.ee/yourpetfoodbank for links to their Amazon wishlist and Paypal details if you’d like to donate, and keep an eye out for pet food drop-off points in your area. You can also find them on Facebook, where they ask you to please share their page.
