The next meeting of the North Wheatley Local History Group will take place on Monday 18th July at 10.00am, at the Village Hall in South Wheatley.
Sam Millard will give a talk entitled ‘The Rufford Park Poachers’, a true story about a violent clash between poachers and gamekeepers around 1759. Sam explores information regarding the events leading to this clash, and the consequences resulting from it.
There is a visitor fee of £4.00 for this meeting – with this fee being refunded if you decide to join as a member during this financial year. An annual subscription is £18.00 with a pro rata reduction being applied for new members who join during the financial year.
Looking further ahead, the group is planning an evening with Caroline Hawley at 7.30pm on Friday 23rd September at the Village Hall. Caroline is an antiques expert, auctioneer and television personality (Bargain Hunt, Flog It!, Antiques Road Trip).
Her talk is entitled ‘The Auction Market Today and Tales from Television’. Following the talk, Caroline will give valuations to items that people have brought along. More information will appear here next month.
