The good news is that Wheatley Village Hall is now open, albeit with COVID-related restrictions, which allows the Wheatley Local and Family History Society to resume their activities. However, they have to report the untimely death of their chairman, Dave Valentine, who passed away at home on 19th May. He will be sorely missed.
The next meeting of the Family Research Group is on Wednesday 14th July, at the Village Hall in South Wheatley starting at 2.00pm. This meeting will now be led by Audrey Hodson, assisted by Freda Proudley. The meeting fee is just £3.00 per person.
The next meeting of the Local History Group will take place on Monday 19th July starting at 10.00am, also at the Village Hall in South Wheatley. Their speaker will be Adrian Gray and the title of his talk is ‘Historical Highlights from Bassetlaw’. Admission to this meeting is free, so this is a good opportunity for anyone to go along to see what they have to offer. Prior to the talk there will be a short General Meeting.
