In 2023, Kirton in Lindsey Town Council launched a survey of residents regarding the unnamed paths in the town.
There was strong interest in retaining the existing network of paths, as without being officially recorded, they could eventually be lost.
The Town Council thanks all those who responded to the 2023 survey and expressed a desire to see the paths protected. The effort to officially record the paths could only succeed with the support of residents willing to confirm that they use and value these routes – and who wanted to see them named.
The survey closed in April 2023. Following this, the Town Council worked with North Lincolnshire Council to initiate the formal process.
Recently, new signage has been installed. Kirton in Lindsey Town Council hopes that recording these paths will help preserve the town’s existing network and increase awareness of both its recent and older history.
In addition to the unnamed paths, Councillor Hazel Fox collaborated with residents of King Edward Street to improve signage for the houses around the Green. Previously, handwritten signs attached to lime trees were the only identifiers. Thanks to North Lincolnshire Council, a new formal sign has now been installed to enhance visibility and identification.
