Town Hall Live (THL) Kirton in Lindsey has two concerts in April: Mike and Ruthy (The Mammals) on Friday 7th, and Out Man in the Field on Friday 28th.
The Mammals’ lush 2020 album Nonet was described as nothing short of sublime, bringing the defiant spirit to heal a damaged world. The bands’ protagonists are Mike Merenda and Ruth Unger. The husband-and-wife duo have performed together for over 20 years: Merenda’s poignant songs paint pictures of the world we want to live in, and Ungar’s unique vocal style ranges from acapella balladry to earthy soul and country.
Support will come from Lincolnshire duo The Rye Sisters, who perform Americana and folk country songs in close harmony with guitar, mandolin and fiddle.
London band Our Man in the Field was formed by Alexander Ellis. Think of Alex as an independent correspondent with dispatches from his travels. His sound is indefinable, yet familiar: introspective, intimate and deeply soulful.
The band were one of the stars of this year’s UK Americana Festival, comprising pedal steel, guitar, banjo, upright bass and drums with fine harmony backing vocals. They take inspiration from Alt-Americana and Caledonian stylings of Van Morrison, Neil Young, Ryan Adams and Wilco.

Looking ahead, on Saturday 17th June Two Pianos from Hull headline and Dave Barton and Al Kilvo and their top-class band deliver the best energetic, foot-stomping piano experience you will ever see. Tickets are on sale now at just £16.00.
Then on Sunday 16th July it is The THL Festival at Klassic Park, Kirton. What an afternoon it will be, with six hours of fabulous music from four acts, all playing headlining sets.
From San Diego, California, The Sara Petite Band; from London, The Blue Highways; from Wales, The Black Feathers; and from San Francisco, California, The Sam Chase Trio.
Bring your own chairs, food and drink and sit down to enjoy an afternoon of fine music. Tickets are priced at just £25.00 and are on sale now. Gates open at 1.00pm and the music starts at 1.30pm.
