Town Hall Live, Kirton takes a break in September before finishing with six concerts to the end of the year. Those concerts bring artists from America, Australia and the UK to the town and, in so doing, celebrate some of the best singer-songwriters in Americana and roots music. Below is the programme.

 

Friday 10th October

Nathan Bell

Sometimes an artist can knock you off your feet, and Nathan Bell from Chattanooga, Tennessee is one of those. Nathan’s songs and voice hit you with a clarity not often encountered. Sharp edged songs, a voice of gravel and grit with some accomplished playing make this guy something special. There will be support from Maggie May Treanor and tickets cost £16.00.

 

Saturday 25th October

While and Matthews

Undisputed queens of British Folk music duos, Chris While and Julie Matthews continue to come up with the goods. First class songs delivered with to-die-for harmonies, immaculate musicianship and melodies that lodge themselves into your brain. Over a 30-year career they have played thousands of concerts, appeared on over 100 albums, written hundreds of songs and reached millions of people around the world. They are a national treasure. Friday 7th November

Alice Howe and Freebo

Alice Howe and Freebo present a unique study in contrasts, bringing together a rising voice in Americana music and a venerable rock and blues icon. Each are compelling performers. They lead and support each other in their well-crafted songs with flawless harmonies and tasteful instrumentation. To hear Alice sing is to be enraptured by the natural, unaffected beauty of her voice and her emotionally resonant singing in the tradition of roots music that has shaped her. Saturday 15th November

The Pleasures

The Pleasures are fronted by the renowned Australian singer-songwriter Catherine Britt and Melbourne’s Lachlan Bryan. The band produce a sound that is blues and rock inspired, occasionally interrupted by delicate moments of sublime country. In August they released their second album ‘Enemy of My Enemy’ and are playing a handful of UK dates on the back of a Scandinavian tour. Support will be from Andrew Leahey from Nashville. Saturday 29th November

Amy Speace

Amy, from Nashville, is a timeless classic singer songwriter. She possesses one of the richest and loveliest voices and her songs her luxuriously smart. Since 2020 she has released three albums, the latest of which is ‘American Dream’. Each new release has brought an expansion of her voice and heart. Support comes from Demi Marriner. Tickets cost £16.00.

 

Saturday 20th December

The Wilson and Wakeman Christmas Show

A return for Damian Wilson and Adam Wakeman for what will be their first concert together in two years, due mainly to Adam being away on tours with Tony Hadley and his father, Rick Wakeman. Their concerts showcase the quality of their collaborative songwriting, delivering a musically refined experience with a touch of humour and highlight Adam’s virtuosity of keys and Damian’s stunning voice. Their live shows are pure, simple and sensational. Tickets cost £17.50.
