Gainsborough Life reader and photographer Tom Ellis and has sent us one of his latest images from the local area. His description of the photo is:
“The spire-it of the Holy Trinity rises upon ‘Rec Hill’ as I hold up my camera and snap a photograph, that a bird decided to photobomb. The spire belongs to the Trinity Arts Centre which is used as a cinema and a theatre. A grade two listed architectural masterpiece that lies in the former England capital of Gainsborough, a former church which dates back as far as the 19th century.
“In numbers, we’re talking Queen Victoria era, 1843. Queen Victoria entered the golden seat in 1837, six years prior. “It has been Gainsborough’s main cinema (The State Club was used as a cinema for a short while in the 00s before it closed) for decades and now the return of the Savoy has given this gutsy church some stiff cinematic competition.”
