Do you recognise anyone in these photos? These are photographs of Guides and Brownies in Morton and one is possibly from the Coronation Day parade of Girl Guides in Gainsborough in 1952.

Girlguiding has been going strong locally in Gainsborough for at least 75 years with groups in Morton, Gainsborough, Lea and Sturton-by-Stow continuing strongly to the present day.

1st Morton Brownies were registered as a group in 1947, 2nd Gainsborough Guides registered in 1953, and the first Rainbow groups registered in 1987.

This May, 1st Morton St Paul’s Guide company is celebrating 50 years of continuous meeting, including meeting online through the recent lockdowns. As part of celebrations, current Morton Guides will be hosting a celebration evening on the anniversary of their opening, including a fashion show of uniforms through the years and a special badge.

If you are a past member of Guiding in Morton, please get in touch because the group would love to see you there and hear your stories from being a Guide! Email dcgainsboroughdivision@gmail.com.
