The Marton Academy

At the Marton Academy, the children have been learning all about plastic and how damaging it can be to the environment. They wanted to remind everyone about the damage that it can cause, so they have created two different sculptures using plastic bottles and other plastic waste.

For remembrance, every child in the school made a poppy and the school constructed its own poppy wall. A visiting artist to the school to help the children create a giant sea turtle. Oliver, aged 10, said: “We weaved plastic bags in and out of the chicken wire as turtles mistake these for jellyfish when they are swimming. We hope that people will think twice before throwing plastic waste into normal bins or on the floor.”
