The Kirton in Lindsey Society’s indoor meetings continue on Tuesday 24th June at 7.30pm in the Town Hall, Market Place, Kirton in Lindsey.
This month’s talk, titled ‘Crime and Punishment – Anglo-Saxons to Present Day’, will feature Eric Jackson, a new speaker for the Society. He will take the audience on an illustrated journey through the evolution of crime and punishment from the time of Alfred the Great to the present day. This is sure to include Kirton in Lindsey’s Whipping Post and Edith Smith, the first woman police officer in Lincolnshire.
The new season of indoor talks will begin on Tuesday 23rd September with an illustrated presentation titled ‘All for the benefit of us!! – from Guilds & Pigs to Ivy Leaf & Hotspurs’. Martin Hollingsworth will explore the various groups, associations and societies that have existed in Kirton over time.
