Tennis club’s open day a roaring success

On Sunday 27th June, Lea Park Tennis Club hosted a free open day and invited the whole of Gainsborough and Lea to try out their courts for free.
The turnout exceeded all of the members’ expectations. It was a non-stop day full of fun, chatting and, of course, tennis. Each member of the committee stepped up and played tennis with every child, teenager and adult that showed up on the day.
Gordon Warnes, Chair of Lea Park Tennis Club, said: “Thanks to all those who came down to Lea Park to try tennis. It was brilliant that it was too crowded to play a proper game! I was exhausted playing short tennis with kids and families of all abilities. Hope that people want to keep on playing.”
Lea Park Tennis Club offer memberships and pay as you play options. It costs £75.00 a year for an adult to play unlimited tennis at the courts. Under 12s go free with a paying adult. Students in full-time education cost £20.00 for a year.
They hold club nights, social nights and you can book the courts whenever they are free.
The pandemic has shown us the power of getting outside. Not only will tennis improve everyone’s fitness, but wellbeing too. They have lights which means tennis can be played all year round, with free parking on site.
