Supporting you, supporting others

Here at the Volunteer Centre, it will come as no surprise that one of our main functions is to facilitate and support volunteering services in our area. This comes in the form of liaising with and supporting volunteer involving groups and organisations, and also potential volunteers, with the hope that we are able to “broker” or introduce volunteers to the group or organisation they would like to get involved with.
However, we also provide a range of services, many of which link into volunteering, but are there to help the many different members of our community. These include our Social Prescribing programme, Youth and Employer Support (YES), a youth employment programme which is delivered in partnership with Acis, Greater Lincolnshire MOVE project helping people into work, and we also provide and host regular training and networking events. More recently we have started work on other projects such as ‘Safer Streets’ and The Gainsborough Local Access Programme
One other big area of work for us is providing support to groups, and this is particularly important at the current time if you are a community group who has, or is, preparing to open up again.
We appreciate that it is all thanks to the dedication and commitment of you, our caring volunteers, that we have such a range of groups in our community, supporting people in difficult times, getting people together to socialise, to share experiences, to care for the environment, to keep heritage and history alive, to do so many diverse activities that benefit our local area…
We also understand that if you are working out how to re-open as a community group, this could be a complicated and challenging time for you. Things might seem daunting or you may have clarity but just want to get advice on a particular issue.
As always, we would like to share this reminder, that we are here for you, the people running community groups, to help however we can, when you need us. We continue to offer our coffee mornings and forums digitally at the moment and these have been a great success over the last year.
We can offer support with policies and procedures, constitutional queries, funding searches and applications, connecting you to relevant services, Data Protection, DBS checking, recruiting more volunteers, publicising your group and letting you know about any free training available.
If you’d like to arrange an appointment to discuss any aspect of your group, or for information about the forums and coffee mornings please contact us via www.voluntarycentreservices.org.uk, call 01427 613470 or email westlindsey@voluntarycentreservices.org.uk.
