A free community event is planned on Friday 24th June, 10.00am to 11.30am, for people with Parkinson’s, their family and carers, and any healthcare professionals interested in learning more about freezing and walking with Parkinson’s, and the new technology being developed to help improve this.
The event is to be held at St Saviour’s Community Centre, 1 Lidget Lane, Retford DN22 6QW.
Speakers from ‘Strolll’ will be present to explain more about this new technology and to give a live demonstration (volunteers may be required!). Due to the few remaining Covid restrictions in healthcare, attendees are requested to wear a facemask is possible and no refreshments can be provided at the event.
Here is what Strolll have to say:
“At Strolll, we are proud to say we are developing the world’s first software application for augmented reality glasses to help those with Parkinson’s.
“We already know, through research, that exercise is imperative in helping slow the progression of the disease, and cueing methods can be effective in helping with mobility issues such as walking. Strolll are building a platform to assist with movement, which will include a library of multi-sensory cueing and activities that can be tailored to each individual.
“Ultimately, our aim is to develop a product to help improve gait and balance, and reduce falls, whilst regaining independence and confidence.”
