After over ten years, Scunthorpe Cooperative Choir will be hosting its own Christmas concert in the beautiful All Saints’ Church, in Gainsborough. This will be a wonderful celebration of all the work the choir does across a wide range of ages, and will include performances from both Middle and Main Choirs.
The concert will take place on Thursday 20th December, at 7.00pm, at All Saints’ Church, Church Street, Gainsborough, Lincolnshire DN21 2JR.
Admission to the concert will be free, with a retiring collection in aid of the SCJC Support fund.
SCJC Support Fund
Scunthorpe Co-operative Junior Choir (SCJC), was founded over 90 years ago. The organisation now boasts around 120 members across two training choirs and the main youth choir covers ages three to 19 years. SCJC has an open access policy, meaning that anyone who wants to, can come and sing with us. The training choirs perform local concerts throughout the year, preparing them for life in the main choir where they will have the opportunity to sing across the country, with foreign tours every other year taking them all over the world.
The choir aims to be ambassadors for both Scunthorpe and Greater Lincolnshire and strives to enable local children to experience the arts in full both locally and national/internationally.
All the conductors at SCJC are firmly of the belief that anyone one who wants to, should be allowed the opportunity to sing and we encourage anyone interested to get in touch and come along for a rehearsal.
Our SCJC Support Fund exists to help young people attend the choir and join in with choir activities and tours, regardless of their financial circumstances. This fund helps SCJC to subsidise the costs of rehearsals and trips for choristers who would otherwise not be able to enjoy the many musical, social and cultural benefits of being involved in our choir.
