Scarecrow success at Kirton in Lindsey

Following requests from residents, the Town Council-promoting Kirton Committee invited residents and businesses to take part in a scarecrow competition for the first time across Kirton in Lindsey in July. Winning scarecrows were awarded prizes during the town’s annual summer gala on Saturday 13th July.

Imagination was the key for the scarecrows in order to create a varied and interesting trail around the town.
65 competition entries were created and displayed across every corner of the town, creating a huge trail for residents and visitors to enjoy. Local businesses (No 12 Chocolatier, The Terrace Bistro and Tea Rooms and Station Road Co-op donated prizes and local company Pobblyboo created and designed a trail leaflet to enable scarecrow spotting.
Three prizes were presented across two categories of public award and judges award. The public award resulted in a tied vote and therefore two winners and the judges award proved extremely difficult to reach a consensus too!

The event was so popular that some residents are already planning their designs for next year! The three winning entries were number one — ‘Peter Rabbit, Mr McGregor and Jeremy Fisher’, number 12 — ‘Land Girl’ and number 57 — ‘Bill & Ben’.
