In a slight change of scenery from the landscape photographs, this time reader Tom Ellis offers more of a historic gem that most town residents would walk past and not give a second glance. Around every corner, there is history to be found that dates back years and is interesting to discover.

The dwelling in the photo formerly belonged to Frank Linley, a manager of the old Midlands Bank. The house lies behind the current HSBC bank on Silver Street. The building has seen many tenants and uses: it changed to a women’s refuge, then was readapted as a probation office before becoming the birth place of ‘Surestart’, who moved away from the now-derelict premises.
