Out of sight but not out of mind…

Writing this just as our second lockdown has started is a bit surreal – yes, we had a sense it was coming but it doesn’t make it any easier. Over the last few months the Voluntary Centre Services team have been working to support groups to get back up and running, and we have seen more people get involved in volunteering albeit in a Covid safe way, but now it feels as though we have taken a bit of a step backwards. However, we are no different from anyone else, and no matter how hard it feels, we need to stay focused on the fact that nothing is forever, and we will move forward again soon.

In the meantime though, many people will be feeling anxious about the coming weeks and months and we want to let you know how we can help.

Our Social Prescribing Service is still operating an adapted service to support individuals into their community. Our Social Prescribing Link Workers can signpost and advise about community activities and groups that are continuing to operate throughout the West Lindsey area during the current COVID-19 lockdown and the forthcoming tiered system in the future. They can have meaningful conversations about what is important to you and link you into your local community to feel better connected and promote wellbeing.

We started hosting Virtual Coffee Mornings for community groups a couple of months ago and plan for them to continue monthly until end of March 2021. The purpose is to allow groups to meet up virtually, share successes and ideas for coping during these strange times, and allow networking, something which a lot of groups have missed by not being able to meet physically. They happen on the first Wednesday of the month from 10.00am to 11.00am, via Teams, and you can book a place via Eventbrite.

We still have opportunities for you to volunteer in our local community and to make a difference to those around you.
We want you to stay in touch with us and whilst we are still not able to offer face-to-face services there are other options. We know that not everyone uses social media, but for those that do, we post regular updates and information about services that are there to support our local community so do please follow us if you can. We are always available to take your calls so please just use the main office number below to speak to one of our team.

At the current time all our services can be accessed via www.voluntarycentreservices.org.uk, call us on 01427 613470 or email westlindsey@voluntarycentreservices.org.uk.
