Ollerton Library
Ollerton Library is located on Forest Road, next to the Post Office. It is open Monday to Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Adult activities
The Crime Reading Group meets monthly to discuss the latest book and enjoy a friendly chat. Upcoming meetings are on Tuesday 4th November and Tuesday 2nd December. The Craft and Chat Group meets every Wednesday from 2.00pm to 4.00pm. Take your own project or start something new – all crafts are welcome.
Children’s activities
Rhyme, Rattle and Roll takes place every Friday at 2.00pm (term time only). Join in with songs and rhymes to help little ones develop coordination and language skills. Lego Club runs twice weekly – on Mondays, 4.00pm to 5.00pm, and Saturdays, 10.00am to 12.00pm.
Code Club (term time only) meets every Saturday from 10.00am to 11.00am for children aged nine to 13 to learn coding with Scratch and Python. To join, email sfepartnership@gmail.com.
Storyteller Event – Saturday 8th November, 10.00am to 12.00pm
Join professional storyteller Beccy Dye for a creative, interactive workshop exploring storytelling through movement, music and voice. Create new tales inspired by local legends. Free event suitable for children aged 7+ and their families (children must be accompanied by an adult). Places are limited, so booking is advised.
Green Week – Seed Craft (Monday 27th October to Monday 10th November)
Imagine a garden where magical seeds can grow! Collect your seed packet template, decorate it and describe your fantastical plant – perhaps a unicorn tree, pizza plant or cat cactus. Drop in anytime during Green Week to take part. Suitable for children under 12. Free, no booking required.
Reminiscence Resources
Inspire Libraries offer collections that encourage communication for people living with dementia, their families and carers. Memory Lane Bags can be borrowed for up to three weeks and include themed memorabilia such as books, CDs, DVDs, photos and objects covering topics like the 1930s, farming, holidays and railways. Adult Care Cases are larger kits designed for group use in care homes or community centres. Each case contains books, DVDs, CDs and objects to spark memories and conversations. They can be borrowed for up to 12 weeks by staff or volunteers.
Dukeries Library
Located within the Dukeries Academy – press the buzzer at the Whinney Lane entrance and reception staff will let you in. The library offers a wide range of fiction, non-fiction, large print and spoken word titles. Computers are free to use for internet access, the library catalogue, and Microsoft Office programs. Opening hours (term time only) are 8.30am to 4.00pm Monday to Thursday, and 8.30am to 3.45pm on Friday – closed each day for lunch between 1.15pm and 1.45pm.
