The region’s largest youth choir will be joined by a Grammy-nominated vocal group as it kicks off a series of 100th anniversary celebrations in March.
The Scunthorpe Co-operative Junior Choir (SCJC) is thought to be one of the largest and longest-running community youth choirs in the UK.
The young singers will be joined by internationally acclaimed vocal group and Grammy-nominees VOCES8 (www.voces8.com) when they take to the stage at The Baths Hall on Saturday 25th March for their gala concert.
SCJC musical director, Daniel Fields, said: “As one of the country’s leading and longest-serving community youth choirs we wanted to do something special to mark this momentous occasion.
“Sharing a stage with the world-renowned VOCES8 will be an incredible experience for our singers and a wonderful tribute to everyone who’s worked so hard over the last 100 years to give the region’s youngsters extraordinary musical experiences.”
Tickets are on sale from The Baths Hall box office.
Other events during this special year include a Gala Dinner (open to the public) and a joint performance with London Youth Choirs in Westminster, as well as concerts closer to home.
It’s not too late to join SCJC and be part of the Gala Concert and beyond. Rehearsals take place on Friday evenings at Oasis Academy, Henderson Avenue, Scunthorpe. Please contact the choir at scjc2008@live.co.uk or via their Facebook page.
