Volunteers at the North Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre welcomed over 1,500 visitors to their VE Day event in May. The weather remained dry – if a little cold – but this did not stop visitors from enjoying themselves.
The team is now inviting everyone to another one-day event on Sunday 17th August, 10.00am to 5.00pm, to commemorate and celebrate the 80th anniversary of VJ Day. Once again, admission is free and well-behaved dogs are welcome.
Entertainment on the day will include the fabulous 1940s singer Kellie Waldron, who had visitors up and dancing at the previous VE Day event. The Scunthorpe Air Training Cadet Band will also be performing, alongside military vehicles, re-enactors, and a range of exhibits and stalls. The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight will be providing a Spitfire flypast at 1.39pm. Refreshments will be served by the NAAFI at very reasonable prices. Admission is free but donations are appreciated.
