May is a busy time for the National Garden Scheme, as 16 gardens are open and welcoming visitors. May also coincides with their ‘Gardens and Health Week’ which runs from 11th to 19th May, the aim of which is to encourage people to visit a private garden as an act of self-care.
As George Plumtree, Chief Executive of the National Garden Scheme explains: “Visiting a National Garden Scheme beautiful garden is an incredibly restorative, calming and enjoyable experience, enhancing wellbeing and relieving stress.” The National Garden Scheme is also well known for providing wonderful refreshments for garden visitors, no visit would be complete without tea and a slice of cake!
