Neil Warnock: Back where it began

Gainsborough Trinity are delighted to announce something very special as part of their 150 years anniversary celebrations this summer.

Record breaking legendary manager Neil Warnock is coming back to where it all started in football management for him, to take charge of a Gainsborough Trinity 11 for one last time in a fundraising match.

They will play against a team of recent ex-professional players such as Michael Dawson, Darren Gibson, Chris Morgan, Paddy Kenny and Pascal Chimbonda in a charity exhibition match at the David Longstaff Martin and Co Arena on Saturday 3rd June at 1.00pm in aid of the Gainsborough Trinity Foundation.

You have the chance to be in the dug out with Neil as his assistant by entering and winning a unique raffle being run by Gainsborough Trinity. Gainsborough Trinity was Neil’s first managerial position in 1980-81 and following almost a season in charge of a successful Gainsborough team, Neil was approached to takeover at Burton Albion. The rest is history, literally!

Neil’s success is unique in football – he holds the record for the most promotions in the English game with a total of eight, as well as the record for the most games managed in English league football, with 1,603 games in the hotseat, plus over 300 games as a manager in non-league football.

The night before this very special match, Neil will be hosting one of his hugely successful live “Are you With Me?” shows at the Scunthorpe Baths Hall. During the show, Neil will take you through is extraordinary career.
