On Saturday 23rd November, in celebration of 60 years of Morton Village Hall, the hall rocked to the sound of Giant Hogweed, a local band who have entertained Gainsborough residents from the sixties to the present day. The evening of music and dance was enjoyed by a capacity crowd, and Giant Hogweed did not disappoint, playing a wonderful range of music from across the decades.
The following day, children were treated to a celebratory party with entertainment by the truly magical Magic Merlin, who amazed them with his tricks and involved them in circus skills, musical games, and a disco. The children barely had time to enjoy all the treats in store for them. Parents and helpers couldn’t resist joining in, and much fun was had by all.
If that wasn’t enough, to round off the celebrations on the actual 60th anniversary on Thursday 28th November, TPA Firebrand, a young vocal group, provided a spectacular concert, performing a variety of songs from the sixties, enjoyed by an appreciative audience.
All the wonderful activities that have taken place in the hall for the local community would not have been possible without the early pioneers over 60 years ago who worked relentlessly to raise funds to build the original hall and inspired others to continue with their good work.
