Morton Feast

by | 4 July 2021 | Community Event, Gainsborough

This year, Morton Feast weekend will be different and the organisers are excited to let you know all the details. As they had to abandon last year’s Feast they hope you will be able to join in with your village’s traditional weekend of activities as usual in July. This year’s weekend is 16th to 18th July.
The Scarecrow Competition is underway so do look out for the map and list of locations of the scarecrows in various boxes around the village. If you haven’t seen the scarecrows before you have missed a treat as there are always lots of stunning examples to amuse you. It is such a pleasure to see the efforts people have made and the imagination never fails to impress! They will be on display from 25th June to 25th July.
The judges for the Garden Cup will be strolling around the village soon to find the best front garden and the winner will be announced on 18th July.
On Friday 16th they will be holding a Quiz in the Village Hall. This starts at 7.30pm, sorry no food this time so please take your own drinks and nibbles. Book your table as soon as possible by calling 01427 613998 and £2.00 per person is payable on the night.
On Saturday evening there will be a barbecue to support the Feast at the Ship Inn, starting about 6.00pm. All are welcome. And on Sunday they will be holding the Summer Fair on the Community Recreation Field, with a scrumptious tea party, the usual brilliant barbecue provided by the Scouts, stalls and games and fun for all! This all kicks off at 1.30pm at the same time as the Morton cricket team are playing. So please go and stay for a relaxing afternoon to watch the game. Please take your folding chairs if possible.
The organisers hope you will support your village festivities. Proceeds will be used to benefit your community.
