The Morton Ballroom Dance Group is a small group of people who enjoy their dancing and having a chat with their fellow dancers. They meet on the third Thursday of each month from 2.00pm to 4.30pm, which includes a 20 minute refreshment break. The cost is £5.00 per person per dance, including the cost of refreshments.
Dancing is to CDs with music from a range of different orchestras and the music is selected for dancers to enjoy the dancing experience. Ballroom dances include Waltz, Quickstep, Foxtrot and Ballroom Tango. They also include the Latin dances of Rumba and Cha Cha Cha. In addition, they include two Sequence dances and two Olde Tyme Dances at each dance.
Everyone is welcome to attend, no matter what standard they are at. They describe themselves as: ‘Strictly’ we are not – but we do enjoy our dancing.”
Members also enjoy a chat to catch-up with news from others in the group and they hold a small raffle with prizes donated by those attending. Profits go into the running of the dances and provision of refreshments. They are not a dance class.
This year’s dances are on: 19th February, 19th March, 16th April, 21st May, 18th June, 16th July, no dance in August, 17th September, 15th October, 19th November, 17th December.
