Morton Ballroom Afternoon Tea Dance Group

Following the highly successful pre-Jubilee Dance, another Morton Ballroom Afternoon Tea Dance was held on 30th June.
The first half was danced mainly to the tunes of the Andy Ross Orchestra on CD and covered all the favourite Ballroom dances such as Waltz, Quickstep and Foxtrot. There was also a Square Tango and a Mayfair Quickstep for the Sequence dancers. Latin lovers were catered for with Cha Cha, Rumba and Tango. And for the more energetic there was even a Jive to Rock Around the Clock – a firm favourite. The heat of that day made this a little gruelling for the dancers!

‘Half time’ was a time to relax and chat with a cup of tea and a biscuit – or two.

Despite the heat, dancers enjoyed a similar combination of dances after the break, with the addition of a couple of Old-Time dances: a Veleta and a Barn Dance.

The Morton Ballroom Afternoon Tea Dance is almost as much a social occasion as a dancing event. It takes place in Morton Village Hall from 2.00pm to 4.30pm. Dancing is to CDs and is mostly Ballroom and Latin with some Sequence and Old-Time dances included.

All are welcome to come and join this informal group and participate for a dance fee of £5.00 per person. This includes a cup of tea / coffee and biscuit (or two) during the 20-minute interval, which also includes a raffle draw.

The dates for future dances are: 28th July, 22nd September, 20th October, 17th November and 15th December (Christmas Dance).
