Morton Ballroom Afternoon Tea Dance Group

by | 11 January 2024 | Gainsborough, Hobbies

The 16th November Morton Afternoon Tea Dance was well attended and attracted some new dancers. Unfortunately, there were some problems with the music when the CD player stopped working – but ingenuity came to the fore and several dancers put together some dance music. The CD player has been replaced.

Dancing will continue in 2024, with a small but growing group of dancers. As important as the dancing to those attending is the social side of each dance. Many good friendships have been formed over the 20-ish years during which the Morton Ballroom Dance Group has been dancing.

As the name implies, this is a Ballroom Dance event, with music drawn from many well-known dance bands. There is also some more modern music to give a change of emphasis for some of the dances. Also included in the schedule each week is Latin Ballroom with one Old Time and one Sequence Dance in each half.

The Dances are held on the third Thursday of each month, starting at 2.00pm and finishing at 4.30pm, with a 25-minute interval for refreshments and a chat.

This is a friendly group which welcomes new dancers of all levels of ability. The venue is Morton Village Hall, Walkerith Road, Morton, Gainsborough. Tickets are £5.00 per person – but with occasional unannounced free dances for regular attendees. There is also a raffle with prizes donated by dancers.

The first date for 2024 is 18th January. The Dance Group looks forward to welcoming you then.
