Morton Ballroom Afternoon Tea Dance Group

It is with great sadness that organisers must announce the Morton Ballroom Tea Dance Group will close following the Christmas Dance scheduled for 15th December.

Dance attendance has been much lower than pre-pandemic. Despite publicity, these have been at a level where ticket sales have, on some occasions, failed to cover the cost of hall hire. This cannot be sustained and so, after 18 years of organising monthly dances for the Gainsborough area, the dances will cease after the Christmas Dance.

Many new friendships have been made over those many years and will last beyond the ending of the dancing. Much fun has been had at fancy dress occasions for Valentines Days, Easter, July 4th dances, ‘Palace’ Garden Party Dances, Halloween and Christmas Dances. The last such event was, of course, the marking of the Platinum Jubilee of her Majesty Queen Elizabeth ll.

The organisers would like to thank all of those who have in any way helped over those 18 years, including the Committee and Caretaker of Morton Village Hall where the dances have always taken place. They would also like to thank the dancers for their regular attendances, which have kept the dancing going for so long. Over the many years in which dancing has taken place, several thousand pounds have been raised and donated to local charities.

The final dance will take place on Thursday 15th December, which will be a Christmas Dance. Start time 2.00pm.
