A local pianist from Misterton has been chosen by internationally acclaimed concert pianist Lang Lang to appear on a TV show celebrating the piano as an instrument.
Gabrielle Overton, had no idea that she was being watched by the star concert pianist, who was hiding alongside pop star Mika whilst she performed at Leeds Train Station, watched on by commuters and the show’s host, Claudia Winkleman. In the show you can watch Lang Lang and Mika’s reactions to Gabrielle, and other pianists chosen get to perform on a brand new Steinway model.
“I was diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome in 2018 which is quite late on really,” Gabrielle said.
“I decided that I would use my skills as a pianist to perform and to raise awareness of hidden disabilities whilst inspiring others at the same time.”
The Piano will be aired on Channel 4 in the spring.
