Asked what u3a means to them, Lindsey u3a members have said:

“ It offers friendship through learning and sharing activities together. It makes you get out and about and it’s FUN!”

“We know that involvement with others, a sense of purpose and challenge are of vital importance in maintaining brain and mind fitness. Sharing informal education helps tackle ageing issues and can be vital in enabling people to live longer better.”

At Lindsey u3a they aim to follow this approach by offering a selection of interest groups and activities in which you can take part. They meet at Welton Village Hall on the first Thursday of the month. Doors open at 9.45am for a cuppa followed by a speaker at 10.30am.

The next general meeting will be on 6th July with speaker Lesley Clarke, a Heritage Studies graduate, speaking on ‘Swanpool Garden Suburb: Lincoln’s Failed Dream’.

On 3rd August, Horace Liberty, a descendant of Arthur Liberty the founder in 1875 of the luxury department store, will be speaking about ‘Liberty of London’ and its intricate and colourful history.

The group aims to give a warm welcome to everyone so, if you are attending one of their meetings for the first time, please inform someone on Reception and one of their friendly greeters will show you round and answer any questions.

If you can’t make a general meeting you could join the group at the ‘Gardeners’ Retreat’ tearoom at Scothern Nurseries for a cuppa and a chat at 10.15am on the fourth Thursday of the month. The next get together will take place on 27th July – so whether you’re a newcomer wanting to know more about Lindsey u3a, or if you’re already a member and just fancy a cuppa, maybe a scone and a chat do come along. Everyone is welcome.
