As daylight hours shorten and mornings grow darker, Lindsey u3a suggests looking for a little sunshine. A recent study tracked adults over 70 days and found that just 20 minutes of morning light can help reset the circadian rhythm, improving sleep quality.
To help lift spirits and bring some sunshine back, Lindsey u3a has plenty planned for November.

On Monday 17th November, the Art Appreciation Group will explore the work of female artists. On Tuesday 18th November, the Visits Group will travel to Upton Hall’s Museum of Timekeeping. On Monday 24th November, the Trojan Mice Environmental Group will tour the Energy and Waste Plant at Hykeham. The group also provides a collection point at General Meetings for items that cannot be recycled at home, such as blister packs, batteries, water filters and printer cartridges. Looking ahead, plans are underway for the Garden Group’s Christmas Lunch on Tuesday 2nd December.

Lindsey u3a is local, friendly, informative and low-cost, open to all who are not in full-time work. Details of all activities and interest groups can be found at www.lindseyu3a.org.uk. The group meets at Welton Village Hall, usually on the first Thursday of the month. Visitors are welcome to attend without obligation. Doors open at 9.30am for tea or coffee and the opportunity to meet interest group leaders before a guest speaker at 10.30am.

On Thursday 6th November, Annette Mackenzie will give a talk titled More About Owls with My Friend Eric. Annette has worked with birds of prey for many years and has previously spoken to the group. Taking the group into the festive season, Tom Lane and friends will entertain members on Thursday 4th December with music, songs and seasonal anecdotes.

A variety of speakers are arranged throughout the year to ensure something for everyone, and u3a members can also access online talks, workshops and courses through http://www.u3a.org.uk. For those unable to attend a general meeting, there is an informal coffee morning at The Gardeners’ Retreat tearoom at Scothern Nurseries, held at 10.15am on the fourth Thursday of each month. The next is on Thursday 27th November. Newcomers interested in finding out more about Lindsey u3a, as well as existing members who fancy a chat over tea and a scone, are warmly encouraged to attend.
