Shops have been filled with Christmas items for months now. Singing penguins at a local garden centre delight both toddlers and grandparents alike. Whether one loves the glitz and excitement of Christmas or prefers a more reflective celebration, Lindsey u3a continues to offer opportunities for people to connect, share interests, and enjoy entertaining speakers.
Lindsey u3a meets at Welton Village Hall, generally on the first Thursday of each month. Guests are invited to attend without any obligation. Doors open at 9.45am for tea or coffee, with the speaker beginning at 10.30am. Newcomers can inform reception, and a friendly greeter will be on hand to show them around and answer any questions.
In the lead-up to Christmas, on Thursday 5th December, Lincolnshire archaeologist and folk musician Tom Lane will present a seasonal talk on ‘Christmas Customs’. This interactive presentation with music will celebrate Lincolnshire’s unique customs and traditions.
To begin the New Year, on Thursday 9th January, well-known speaker Nancy Appleyard will deliver a presentation titled ‘Art or Artful’. With experience teaching Communication Studies and Personal Development, Nancy gives talks throughout the East Midlands and also on cruise ships. Her presentation promises to be both intriguing and entertaining.
Lindsey u3a offers a variety of interest groups, all organised by members for members. Details of these can be found on the website www.lindseyu3a.org.uk, which provides comprehensive information on the groups, meeting schedules, and events.
u3a members can also join various online talks, workshops, and courses. More details are available at www.u3a.org.uk.
For those unable to attend general meetings, there is an opportunity to meet informally at the ‘Gardeners’ Retreat’ tearoom at Scothern Nurseries for a cuppa and chat on the fourth Thursday of each month at 10.15am. The next meeting will be on Thursday 23rd January, as there will be no coffee morning on Boxing Day. Newcomers and members alike are warmly welcome.
