When Lea Women’s Institute hosted a coffee morning in support of Macmillan Cancer Support, Tris Summers was prepared to put his head of hair on the line. Brave the Shave encourages individuals to shave their heads in exchange for sponsorship, raising funds to support people living with cancer and their families. Since its launch in 2015, the campaign has raised over £22.7 million – enough to fund Macmillan nurses for three years.

Cancer affects more people now than ever before, and everyone deserves the best possible care to meet their needs. Tris can be proud of raising an impressive £654, and donations to this vital cause can still be made by visiting Brave the Shave Macmillan Support.
The next meeting of Lea Women’s Institute will take place on Thursday 4th December at 7.00pm in Lea Village Hall, DN21 5JA. The ladies will be enjoying a Christmas social evening to start the festive season in style.
