Lea Women’s Institute embraces life with enthusiasm, engaging in crafting, dining out, listening to guest speakers and supporting charitable causes. These activities bring great joy to its members.
A recent visit from Ken Robertson, former Film Director at the BBC, delighted the group with behind-the-scenes stories from the Carry On films. Laughter filled the room as he shared amusing anecdotes, including how the camel in Carry On Follow That Camel was borrowed from a local zoo. Filmed at Camber Sands, the poor creature, having never encountered sand before, refused to walk on the beach!

Crafting offers a creative way to relax the mind and support good mental health. The next meeting will feature a hands-on activity—decorating plant pots or tin cans with leftover gift-wrapping paper, transforming discarded materials into something both attractive and practical.
Anyone interested is welcome to join on Thursday 1st March at 7.00pm at Lea Village Hall, DN21 5JA.
