Lea Rainbows

by | 8 August 2020 | Children's Group, Gainsborough

Rainbows is for girls aged between five and seven. Lea Rainbows normally meet on Thursday evening (unfortunately due to COVID-19 they have had to cancel their meetings this term) during term time and leaders are inviting new members to get in touch.
They have lots of fun, play games, sing and earn lots of badges. They are a small group at present and let the girls choose from the selection of badges within their new programme that they wish to do. This can be anything from learning first aid, planning what to pack to go camping in the desert to visiting the library. In the past they have had a visit from an owl to learn all about them, had fun at the guiding campsite, taken part in games at Lea Park, visited Sundown, a working farm and Tesco. They also normally take part in St George’s Day and Remembrance Sunday and other Girlguiding events. While they have not been able to meet, the girls in the Lea unit have been working on interest badges in their badge books.
For older girls, there is Brownies for girls aged seven to 10, and Guides for girls aged 10 to 14, followed by Rangers. Girlguiding is about learning new skills, making new friends and sharing your thoughts, plans and ideas. Every level has its own programme which includes badges, camping, activities such as wall climbing and trips.
Girlguiding is run by an amazing group of volunteers from leaders, unit helpers and young leaders to those that work behind the scenes to make trips happen. If you would be interested in joining them in the Gainsborough area you will get a warm welcome to the guiding family.
If you require any information please pop onto the Girlguiding website and click the register your interest link. This brings up a short form and once you have done that a leader will then contact you directly through your preferred method.
