Founded in 1937, Kirton WI is still going strong and has an extensive archive of its activities over the years. This will be on display for viewing in the large hall providing a great opportunity to trip down Memory Lane. Anyone in the area with local connections will want to see this! Just go along or, for more information, contact Liz Henson on 01724 762464.

‘Harvest Home’ Barn Dance

Saturday 24th September, 7.30pm to 10.30pm
Lammas (Loaf Mass) Day on 1st August celebrated the beginning of the harvest season as the first sheaves were cut, but a much bigger celebration takes place when the last sheaf of corn is collected. It heralds a big party known as the Harvest Home. It was usually held in late September, and was marked with singing, dancing and feasting. Take your own celebratory food and, with the help of the Stepping Stones Ceilidh Band, let’s recreate the merriment and joy of bringing in the harvest. Dance (two left feet welcome!) or just enjoy an evening of live music and song.
Tickets £10.00, available from Londis, the Town Hall office, at the door on the night, or on the website.

11th Annual Art Exhibition

Friday 7th (5.00pm to 9.00pm) to Saturday 8th (9.30am to 5.30pm) October
The exhibition will showcase a range of artistic techniques including painting, pottery, textiles and glass craft and there will be the opportunity to buy everything on display. Local artists, and some from further afield, display up to four paintings in any medium. Each year has been a bit different, with some regular exhibitors and some new ones each time. The standard is very high and there are quite a few sales. Tea and coffee and snacks available throughout; the bar will be open on the Friday evening too. Admission is free, catalogues are £1.00 and all proceeds go to support the Town Hall charity. If you are an artist, and would like to know more about exhibiting, there is still time to be part of the event. Contact Jo for more information: info@kirtoninlindseytownhall.co.uk.

All the latest developments as well as details of the hall’s regular weekly and monthly events will be on the website and Facebook pages so do keep checking. For further information, contact Jo on info@kirtoninlindseytownhall.co.uk or 07752 246255, or visit www.kirtoninlindseytownhall.co.uk.
