There’s two special events coming up at Kirton in Lindsey Town Hall which are not to be missed:

Sunday 24th September, 7.00pm

The King’s Delight – Music, Words and Songs from Restoration England performed by Passamezzo

The restoration of Charles II to the throne in 1660 is generally seen as a time of rejoicing, when all the good things Cromwell’s Parliament had tried to ban or destroy could be enjoyed again. The programme includes ballads about horseracing, songs from the theatre, tavern rounds, dance music, and so much more with music by Wilson, Lawes, Locke, Purcell, and Playford.

Passamezzo are a nationally renowned costumed early music ensemble and have appeared on TV programmes such as ‘Lucy Worsley’s Tudor Christmas’; provided the music for ‘A Discovery of Witches’; and taught Danny Dyer to sing when he was discovered to have royal ancestry in the BBC programme ‘Danny Dyer’s Right Royal Family’. They have already performed twice before at the Town Hall to great acclaim so this is a very welcome return.

Tickets cost £12.00, £10.00 concessions and £5.00 students. They are available from Mary Hollingsworth on 01652 648435, enquiries@kirtoninlindseysociety.org.uk, Morrisons Daily (Market Place), or on the door.

Friday 6th October, 5.00pm to 9.00pm, and Saturday 7th October, 10.00am to 5.30pm

12th Annual Art Exhibition

The exhibition will showcase a range of artistic techniques including painting, pottery, textiles and glass craft and there will be the opportunity to buy. Local artists, and some from further afield, display up to four paintings in any medium. Each year has been a bit different, with some regular exhibitors and some new ones each time. The standard is very high.

Tea and coffee and snacks available throughout and the bar will be open on the Friday evening. Admission is free, catalogues are £1.00 and all proceeds go to support the Town Hall charity.

If you are an artist, and would like to know more about exhibiting, there is still time to be part of the event, contact Jo for more information.
