Two special events are coming up at Kirton in Lindsey Town Hall.
The King’s Delight – Music, Words and Songs from Restoration England
Sunday 24th September, 7.00pm
The Kirton in Lindsey Society and Kirton in Lindsey Entertainment Organisation announce a welcome return for Passamezzo, who are going to delight with words, music and songs from Restoration England.
The programme includes ballads about horseracing, songs from the theatre, tavern rounds, dance music and much more. The period is well documented through the works of writers like Pepys and through anonymous ballads describing momentous events, including the Great Fire of 1666 and Frost Fair in 1683.
Passamezzo are a nationally renowned costumed early music ensemble and have appeared on TV programmes such as Lucy Worsley’s Tudor Christmas; provided the music for A Discovery of Witches; and taught Danny Dyer to sing and dance when he was discovered to have royal ancestry in the BBC programme Danny Dyer’s Right Royal Family.
They have already performed twice before at the Town Hall to great acclaim, so this is a very welcome return and not to be missed.
Tickets cost £12.00 (£10.00 concessions) or £5.00 for students. They are available from Mary Hollingsworth on 01652 648435, enquiries@kirtoninlindseysociety.org.uk, Morrison’s Daily (Market Place), or on the door.
