The Kirton in Lindsey Society’s season of indoor meetings continues Tuesday 22nd March at 7.30pm, in the Town Hall, Market Place, Kirton in Lindsey.
This time it is The Dejardin Lecture and it will be an illustrated talk entitled ‘The Lost Monasteries of the Witham Valley’ when Jean Townsend take members on a journey looking for old religious houses in this area of Lincolnshire.
Laurence Dejardin (1917 – 2004) was a founder member of the Kirton in Lindsey Society and served as Chairman, before becoming a Life Member on his retirement from the committee. He was an excellent local historian, expert on St Andrew’s Church in the town and a local artist. He was able to tum his knowledge into print by writing four books in the Society’s Local Studies series of publications.
Future talks include: Farming Through Time and Seasons; Medieval Gardening; and The Plough Jag Plays.
