Green-fingered frolics!

by | 2 November 2022 | Gainsborough, Social Group, WI

The Lea Women’s Institute will be getting to grips with green-fingered frolics during their November activity.

While the nights darken and thoughts turn to hibernating for the winter, the ladies will plan ahead by planting bulbs. Sowing a little effort now will flourish spring-time rewards come next year. The small pots of soil represent a life cycle of hope where tokens of care and attention can flower before your eyes.

Redcote Residential Home will be given the plants as gifts in an ever-enduring show of respect and affection. Any extras can be treasured for yourself or given to your loved ones.

In keeping themselves busy, the Women’s Institute strives to support other local organisations. During the summer the generous ladies gathered the local community to donate groceries to the Salvation Army Food Bank.

You can join the ladies at the Lea Women’s Institute in their scenery and greenery on Thursday 3rd November at 7.30pm. Better still, make a note in your diary to also go along to the following craft session planned Thursday 1st December at 7.30pm. A cheese and biscuit social evening will provide the festive backdrop for the ladies to make Christmas inspired gifts. Secret Santa won’t reveal the mystery manufacture until the night itself, but you can be sure of something special to mark the season! All materials are provided. Just bring your imagination to make it sparkle.

Ladies: it all happens at Lea Village Hall, DN21 5JA, where you will be assured of a warm welcome. For more information contact Jackie Summers on 01427 615382 or the.summers@btinternet.com.
