The new, free Gainsborough Young Writers’ Group is the perfect place for aspiring authors, wannabe poets, scribblers and storytellers alike to make new friends and get creative! Meeting once a month for a jampacked session of creative writing exercises with lead writer Victoria Martin.

Organised by Writing East Midlands, the group meets on Saturdays from 10.00am to 11.30am at Gainsborough Old Hall. Upcoming dates are 14th December, 11th January, 8th February, 8th March, 5th April, 10th May and 14th June

Victoria Martin is a writer, performance poet and workshop facilitator. In her poetry, she seeks the extraordinary in the ordinary, magic in the minutiae and humour in the humdrum, while her short stories explore darker themes with nods to domestic horror. She has performed at The Word Theatre, ATG Slam, WITA Showcase, Poetry Green Room and Zero Degrees Festival and is published by Plastic Brain Press and Lincs Strange Delights.

With a passion for working with people and uncovering their stories, Victoria has developed and facilitated numerous workshops for community groups as well as primary and secondary educational settings. Encouraging people of all ages to develop their craft while facilitating the growth of a creative project is her idea of a perfect day at work!
