Gainsborough Croquet Club invites new players for the 2026 season

Free taster sessions, fresh air and friendly competition are on offer from April to September as Gainsborough Croquet Club opens its lawns to newcomers.

Croquet is described as ‘fun and social’ and ‘great for general health and wellbeing’. All equipment is provided, and beginners simply need to wear flat-soled shoes or trainers.

Free taster sessions

One-hour introductory sessions will take place at 1.00pm on selected Wednesdays throughout the season: 6th and 20th May, 3rd and 17th June, 1st, 15th and 29th July, 12th and 26th August and 2nd September.

For those who prefer alternative times, bookable sessions are also available:

  • Tuesdays – 12.00pm to 1.00pm
  • Wednesdays – 5.00pm to 6.00pm
  • Sundays – 1.00pm to 2.00pm

New players can also enjoy two additional free club sessions after completing a taster session.

Regular club sessions

The club’s regular playing days run from April to September, weather permitting:

  • Tuesdays – 1.00pm to 5.00pm
  • Wednesdays – 2.00pm to 5.00pm
  • Sundays – 2.00pm to 5.00pm

All activities take place at The Venue, Roses Sports Ground, North Warren Road, Gainsborough.
